Superstar chef woos Vancouver foodies
Some 30 travel professionals and members of the press were invited to sample a taste of Velas Resorts’ gourmet cuisine at Vancouver’s Big Time event space last night.
The exclusive eight-course private dinner showcased the aromas and flavours of the cuisine of Xavier Perez Stone, the executive chef at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya’s Cocina de Autor restaurant. The restaurant was the first all inclusive restaurant to be awarded Five Diamonds by the AAA.
Voted ‘Mexico’s Best Chef’ in 2012, Chef Xavi also won the International Iron Chef competition in Toronto last summer. A disciple of culinary master Juan Mari Arzak, Chef Xavi has taken Basque cuisine to a new level by fusing modern techniques with Mexican flavours.
