Festival includes three days of informative workshops, stimulating seminars and exciting presentations against the picture-perfect backdrop of the island of Anguilla
This Memorial Day weekend, travelers can enjoy a relaxing warm-weather getaway and stimulate the mind during the third annual "Anguilla Lit Fest: A Literary Jollification" from May 22 - 25. Honoring the literary heritage of Anguilla, the three-day event, brings together an accomplished list of celebrity authors and speakers with book lovers and literary connoisseurs to celebrate and explore the creative process. With special room rates currently being offered by participating hotels, including host property Paradise Cove, now is the time to book and finalize travel plans to attend this annual event.
Featured speakers for this year's event include authors, poets and publishers from a variety of fields, including award-winning author Bernice L. McFadden; author, philanthropist and Essence magazine co-founder, Edward Lewis; actor and celebrity author, Blair Underwood; Editor-in-Chief of Salon.com, David Daley; Senior Publicity Manager of Atria Books/Simon & Shuster, Yona Deshommes; as well as author, coach and father of tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams, Richard Williams. A number of Anguilla's leading literary giants will also be featured at this year's Lit Fest, including noted author, poet and historian, Colville Petty; award-winning playwright and dramatist, Felix Fleming and Anguillian poet, author and cultural biographer, Ijahnyah Christian. The festival will also highlight the contributions of Anguillian-born author Robert Athlyi Rogers, whose book "The Holy Piby" is considered one of the most influential works in the Rastafari movement.
The festival's program includes a welcome cocktail party, breakfast and lunch presentations, seminars, writing workshops, and fun-filled evening soirees.
