The respected Rosalie Bay resort on Dominica has staked a presence in Canada with the appointment of Newmarket, Ont.-based Canlink Travel to handle its sales and marketing efforts in this country.
Located on the Caribbean island’s east coast, the “simply magical” eco boutique hotel embraces Dominica’s natural ethos with 28 luxury rooms and suites housed in nine cottages that are set in a lush landscape of heliconia, lilies and hibiscus.
Each suite features a porch or balcony offering views of the Atlantic Ocean, Rosalie River or the tropical gardens, along with hand-carved four-poster beds, armoires, writing tables and luxurious bathrooms with granite countertops and vessel sinks. Amenities include complimentary wi-fi, plush robes and slippers, beach towels, a coffee maker, and mini-refrigerator.
The resort is also home to the Gló Spa and Zamaan, one of the island’s top restaurants, which features healthy cuisine and Dominican favourites sourced from local fishermen, farmers and the property’s organic garden.
A key feature of Rosalie Bay is its commitment to sustainability with the property powered by wind and solar energy; the resort has also partnered in a sea turtle conservation program on the island.
Located between St. Kitts and St. Lucia in the Lesser Antilles, Dominica has been dubbed “The Nature Island” for its volcanic peaks, unspoilt waterfalls and rushing streams, and rainforest canopies. It is also a mecca for divers and hikers, the latter having access to more than 500 kilometres of trails.
