Arctic Kingdom is pleased to announce that renowned National Geographic Photographer, Paul Nicklen, has signed on to join the Baby Harp Seal Photo Safari in Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec as a special guest photographer. When asked why he selected this particular safari Paul shared, “I have always dreamed of doing this trip and Arctic Kingdom has finally found a way to do it right.”
This authentic 5 day photo safari promises to include innumerable spectacles of wonder and beauty. Participants will sail aboard an active crab-fishing vessel captained by a local fisherman to the ice pans off the islands where they will spend 3 full days on the ice, from sunrise to sunset, photographing the world and lives of baby harp seal pups. Paul will share photography tips for lighting, conditions, and angles to help capture the best moments out on the ice and will help participants review their photographs to isolate the best images. This unique opportunity allows participants to not only experience the beauty of the Magdalen Islands in a small-group atmosphere with only 5 other guests, but also offers an exclusive privilege to learn from and share with one of the world’s top wildlife photographers.
Available dates are from February 23-27, February 27-March 3, and March 3-7, 2015 all of which are now open to bookings. The price of $7,995 plus 13% HST includes return transfers from Îles-de-la-Madeleine Airport, one night accommodation at Auberge La Salicorne, three nights accommodation aboard the live-aboard vessel, all meals upon arrival at Auberge La Salicorne and while aboard the vessel, and a Mustang Floater Suit for duration of stay aboard vessel. Arctic Kingdom will be donating $250 from the tour cost of each participant to help support Paul Nicklen’s foundation Sea Legacy, an organization that focuses on marine conservation through photography and storytelling.
