The Korean government has implemented a new hotel tax refund policy to attract more international tourists to Korea. The new tax refund policy took effect on April 1st of 2014 and will be in active for 1 year.

The new incentive policy is applicable to international visitors who stay more than two nights but less than thirty in participating hotels. Eligible recipients must present a detailed “Hotel Stay Confirmation Form” in order to apply.  Reimbursements will be issued within 3 months of the check-out date.

The hotel tax refund must be submitted for processing prior to departure at designated tax-refund offices in the duty free zones within Incheon International Airport.  Qualified international tourists must be visiting Korea on a tourist visa and leave within their stated visa period.  Applicants must not be part of a pre-packaged tour.
