Nine CAA Counsellors from nine different CAA Travel stores around Quebec, plus one head office CAA Quebec colleague from the Travel Products division, Rosemarie Leclerc, enjoyed a fun-filled, action-packed learning experience in the Myrtle Beach area, commonly referred to as the "Grand Strand". They flew on Spirit Airlines from Plattsburgh, NY non-stop to the Myrtle Beach International Airport, which completed a $113US million expansion in 2013.
The Canadian Account Manager, Kimberly Hartley, co-hosted the fam trip with Elaine Michaud, International Sales Manager, Myrtle Beach Area CVB.
This fam was not associated with any specific tour operator so the itinerary was developed to showcase the destination featuring some resorts out of the 450 in the destination, that cater to the CAA market and member. Dayton House Resort in Myrtle Beach sponsored the accommodations - directly situated on the beach overlooking the 100km stretch of white sand beaches.
The Myrtle Beach area continues to welcome thousands of Canadians each year, and works very closely with travel agents throughout Canada, offering them support to sell the destination and make more commissions promoting short and long stays especially during the value seasons in the fall, winter and spring. Travel agents can order the 2014 Visitors Guide from Contac Services at www.e-contac.com, in both English and French, which is an excellent resource "reader's digest" size destination guide with a pull out map and discount coupons. If corporate groups, or other group travel for students, multigenerational families, sports teams, motor coach tours or any other niche group travel, there is a new 2014 Group Planner guide available to order from the Canadian office by contacting Kimberly Hartley at 905-582-9252 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The MBA Specialist program continues to offer travel agents detailed information about the Myrtle Beach area, rewarding lucky winners each month with hotel stays, beach towels, beach bags and gift cards. Travel agents can register at www.travelweeklearningcentre.ca.
Travel agents who wish to visit the destination on their own "personal" fam tour, can contact Kimberly Hartley for more information and assistance. email@example.com
