• Jimmy Carter Library and Museum: Features new interactive exhibits detailing the life of President Jimmy Carter, and unprecedented access to documents from the Carter Administration. Atlanta.
• The Big House Allman Brothers Band Museum: Offers an extensive collection of ABB posters, photos, memorabilia and a vast archive of audio recordings and film footage. Macon.
Attractions
• Georgia Aquarium: The world’s largest aquarium is home to more than 100,000 animals representing 500 species from around the globe. Something new is introduced every 90 days. Atlanta.
• Stone Mountain Park: Attractions include sky lift to the mountaintop, train ride, paddlewheel riverboat cruise, old-time village, 4-D movie theatre, Antebellum home tour and the world’s longest running laser show. Near Atlanta.
• Georgia Music Hall of Fame: Memorabilia representing more than 450 artists, including Little Richard, James Brown, and Otis Redding. Interactive exhibits for kids. Macon.
• Georgia Sea Turtle Center: The only sea turtle rehabilitation centre of its kind between coastal South Carolina and Florida. Jekyll Island.
• Tellus Northwest Georgia Science Museum: Contains interactive exhibits, a replica Wright flyer, a 24-metre long Apatosaurus, and a 120-seat state-of-the-art digital planetarium. Cartersville.

Hidden Gems
• Providence Canyon State Park: Includes 16 canyons, some as deep as 46 metres. An interpretive centre explains how the massive gullies were caused by erosion because of poor farming practices in the 1800s. Lumpkin.
• Ocmulgee National Monument: Experience 12,000 years of Native American history at this 284-hectare site in Macon.
• Howard Finster Vision House: Built by folk artist Howard Finster, who experienced a vision from God to paint sacred art. The house museum is currently home to Finster’s art. Print reproductions available for purchase. Summerville.
• Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum: Boasting the largest collection of microcars anywhere in the world. Among more than 300 exhibits are the 1958 Goggomobil DART and a 1956 Avolette Record De Luxe. Madison.
